A fifty-one-mile drive on paved two lane county roads through farmlands and crossroads communities to five covered bridges. Five of Oregon’s fifty-three covered bridges are included on the drive, which forms a rectangle as it extends through a small valley framed by the Cascade foothills and western ridges. While traffic is usually light, allow time for leisurely driving, as posted speeds sometimes drop to fifteen and twenty miles per hour. Special attractions: Five covered bridges, fish hatchery, historic church, and Santiam River. This eTrail is a complete description of a scenic drive with a route map and information on the best travel seasons, interesting sites, recreation opportunities, camping locations, and much more.
