The East Fork Owyhee River runs through a spectacular, steep-walled canyon cut deep into the Idaho high desert. After joining the main Owyhee, the river continues into Oregon. It can be hard to catch the river at optimum flows because of the short runoff season. Much of the run is lazy Class I+ water with an occasional Class II riffle; but a mandatory portage of Owyhee Falls and a handful of Class III and IV to V rapids interrupt the languid journey.
