Vulcan Lake

Vulcan Lake Professional Review and Guide

"A beautiful alpine lake in the Kalmiopsis Wilderness, at the base of Vulcan Peak. You and your pet will have a great time nosing around this geological wonderland lush with flora. The drive past the Vulcan Peak Trail out to the Vulcan Lake Trail, and the first part of the hike, were all heavily impacted by the 2002 Biscuit Fire that burned 500,000 acres in and around the Kalmiopsis Wilderness.

This won’t affect the hike, aside from making the first 1.5 miles a little more open, with more vista opportunities. Watching the forest slowly recover on this already harsh site can be interesting."
