(Middle Spit Self-Contained Camping) Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Located 1 mile upstream from where the Umpqua River meets the ocean, this 5-acre open, paved camping area suits the nautical, the through-traveler, and those seeking a base from which to explore the coast. Gulls, seabirds, diving birds, and Canada geese share the bay location. The docks and boat moorings add atmosphere; sidewalks welcome morning and evening strolls along the marina. You may view recreational and working boats, along with a stern-wheeler. Area attractions include fishing charters, a commercial cannery, the dunes, Umpqua River Lighthouse, a vessel tour of the Hero at Reedsport, and Dean Creek Elk Viewing Site (east of Reedsport on OR 38)."
