It is within Disaster Peak Wilderness Study Area, Red Mountain Wilderness Study Area, and Mahogany Ridge Wilderness Study Area. It is 37.6 miles long and begins at 4,218 feet altitude. Traveling the entire trail is 75.4 miles with a total elevation gain of 11,575 feet. The Holloway Reservoir (elevation 5,928 feet) and Red Mountain Reservoir (elevation 6,050 feet) reservoirs can be seen along the trail. This trail connects with the following: Holloway-No Name Road, Chalk Creek Road, V-Road, Little Whitehorse Road, Little Trout Creek Road and Red Mountain Creek Road.
