Walton Lake Professional Review and Guide
"This popular campground is located along the shore of Walton Lake, a former mountain meadow that was transformed into a quiet mountain lake by a small earthen dam. Campsites dot the ponderosa pine forest on the north and south shores; site parking is either on the roadside or on spurs. The lake is stocked with trout three times each summer, so the fishing is usually pretty good. Quiet boating, swimming, hiking the lakeside trail, watching the antics of otters or muskrats, and just relaxing in camp are other potential activities. The campground also has a trailhead for Round Mountain National Recreation Trail, a more challenging hike."
