The trailhead is about 27 miles northeast of Prineville, on the northern boundary of the Ochoco National Forest. Tread: about 1 mile of the 8.2 mile trail is on logging roads. The singletrack portions are generally well maintained, thanks to Equestrian clubs. Yellow diamonds mark the trail route. Hazards: be prepared for sudden changes in weather. Rattlesnakes inhabit the rockier sections. The trail covers rocky terrain with cliffs.
