Wildhorse Lake

Wildhorse Lake Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"An amazingly beautiful lake in a treeless glacial-cirque basin near the summit of Steens Mountain. The drive to the trailhead follows the highest and possibly most spectacular road in Oregon.

Everything about Wildhorse Lake and the Steens Mountain summit is spectacular, starting with the drive to the trailhead. Although this chapter focuses on Wildhorse Lake, make sure to visit the mountain’s 9,733-foot summit, an easy trek from the parking area (see “Options”)."
