Willamette River Willamette Park to Swan Island

Willamette River: Willamette Park to Swan Island Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The Willamette River undergoes dramatic changes as it passes through the city of Portland. On the southern edge of town, it is almost rural in character, thanks to wooded banks and extensive parks such as Powers Marine Park and Oaks Bottom.

After passing through the city, however, the river is almost entirely industrialized, with huge grain elevators, public wharfs, and containerized shipping terminals."

this paddle is ok. The last 5 miles or so are through heavy industrial areas with few places to pull over if you want to stretch. If you like being in the heart of the city and in the middle of the river industries... this is a decent paddle. Me... I like more trees.
