This is a great place to get out and get some exercise; having hiked this only in the wintertime (twice), would say the scenery is unspectacular and the trails are excellent (somewhat graveled, so not as muddy as one might expect). Visitor center has free trail maps (worth getting), books and other items for sale and rotating exhibits; also a terrain map that gives an idea of what the 645 acres are like. Guidebooks says this is more spectacular in the spring when trillium are in bloom. Although I've assigned only two stars to the hike (based on lack of scenery), it probably deserves 2-1/2 just because it's so close to Portland and other Willamette Valley towns. Lots of people use the trails, so safe to do this alone because plenty of people and in cell-phone range.
