Shellrock Lake to Rock Lake Basin

Shellrock Lake to Rock Lake Basin Professional Review and Guide

"About 40 miles southeast of Portland. Tread: Singletrack in poor condition with numerous downfalls and extremely rocky tread. Hazards: Extreme conditions for most of the trail. Extremely steep descents, extremely steep ascents, extremely rocky most of the time, and extremely poor maintenance. Be prepared to lift your bike over, under and around numerous downfalls."

The trail is fine. There are hills, but the path is pretty smooth and clear. We only made it to Shell Rock Lake due to an injury (not related to the trail). About half the sites have easy lake access, but the other half don't. The water is warm and clear. There were a TON of very hungry mosquitos around dawn and dusk. Bring lots of heay duty bug spray, long sleeves, and pants.
