Exactly what Ryan said - a fun little trail, 10-15 mins up, 3-4 down and in close proximity to Portland. I like it better than the other local options. You can bike along the Springwater or you can park at the top.

Fun trail. There's not much technical challenge here, but the downhill is smooth and fast and the climbs are enjoyable. There is a phone line you can call to see if the trail is open to mountain bikers before you haul out there.

I like this trail for training purpose and close vicinity to the city. But be aware that recently a sign popped up at the entrance that prohibits Mountain Bikes Rides during wet conditionss (regardless of the season!). The sign shows OPEN/CLOSED as determined by some official person, checking the conditions daily. No way of telling whether it's open or not before you get there.... beate

Oh I don't know... it would have been super awsome if someone mentioned that ITS CLOSED TO BIKES DURING DECEMBER, JANUARY AND FEBRUARY... missed my whole day of riding - driving all the way out there, getting stuck in traffic.... ugh

This is a great little ride to hit after a day at the office. Only four stars because it is a short ridde. You can stat your ride somewhere farther down the Sweetwater Corridor. A short uphill climb and a fast hard downhill, makes Powell Butte so exciting. You get the blood flowing with the climb on the SE side of the hill, then get the blood flowing evn faster taking the west side downhill from the top. What take 15 minute to climb takes 2 minutes to get down. See how many times you can go up and down before it gets dark. Oh, yeah look out for hikers, some do not seem to want to get out of the way. Cheers
