This is the return trip of the Carson Hot Springs Challenge. It is a spectacular ride, following the Historic Columbia River Scenic Highway through the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, with many delightful and impressive sights along the way. The Scenic Hwy. is a narrow road that winds along the gorge and often carries heavy tourist traffic. Terrain: mostly follows older scenic highways. Some stretches are in good shape. Others stretches are narrow, poorly maintained, and adjacent to cliffs. The ride includes a 700-ft climb. Traffic can be heavy during the summer tourist season.
