The river is situated in a narrow, rocky canyon with impressive undercuts and large boulders. One particular undercut, about 0.5 mile from the put-in, looks inviting except for the rock that has fallen from its conglomerate ceiling. The riverbed is carved into rock, with little sediment, making the water crystal-clear. Abundant moss and ferns line its steep, lush banks.
