"Several good birding sites lie close to Medford. Changes in habitats, ranging from lush riparian corridor to oak and mixed woodlands to chaparral and rimrock, are determined by changes in elevation. This chapter contains information about birding around the following areas: Prescott Park, Agate Lake, Tou Velle State Park/Denman Wildlife Area, Upper Table Rock/Lower Table Rock and Kirtland Road Sewage Ponds.

Specialty birds in these areas include: Green Heron; Osprey; Common Poorwill; Acorn Woodpecker; Ash-throated Flycatcher; Oak Titmouse; White-breasted Nuthatch; Blue-gray Gnatcatcher; Western Bluebird; Wrentit; Yellow-breasted Chat; Spotted and California Towhees; Lark Sparrow; Western Meadowlark and Lesser Goldfinch."
