Old Oregon Trail

Old Oregon Trail Professional Review and Guide

"You’re on a high-forest plateau; soon start a downward cruise with some curves. But stay in your lane—for some reason all the nasty pavement patchwork is just on the other side of the center line. Do a little dance across the freeway before Meacham, which tops Kamela by actually having a store—but then again, Main Street here is gravel.

After another freeway crossing, Emigrant Springs State Park on the left is a cool oasis; it has all the amenities, including the comfort of porcelain flush toilets. Then cross the freeway again; when you come to a viewpoint turnoff, consider walking the steep gravel road (it’s only 0.1 mile) for a splendid view of a deep canyon extending far away, with side drainages forming stripes of trees amid the grassy slopes."
