Sandbeach Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Although off-highway vehicles (OHVs) are prohibited from driving through camp, engine roars carry over the dunes 24 hours a day. A designated bypass links the camp to the riding dunes. For quieter pursuits, the beach, closed to OHVs between the campground and Fisherman’s Parking, is just 0.1 mile away via Sand Lake Estuary.

Sand Lake is a big, shallow tidal lake that reduces to a sand flat at low tide. The lake holds flounder and perch, which attract feeding eagles and other birds at low tide. Because the campground sits in a weather gap between coastal capes, it often basks in sun when the rest of the coast is cloaked in fog. Sites have fairly good privacy in the dune–shore pine setting."
