These three lovely but generally uncrowded mountain lakes are all accessible from the same trailhead off an isolated gravel road southwest of Hood River. They provide a range of difficulty options, from the short and mostly level stroll to scenic North Lake, to a somewhat more difficult hike to Bear Lake, and finally a rugged hike over the view-packed shoulder of Mt. Defiance to Warren Lake. All three lakes are worth visiting, and you won’t be disappointed to spend the night at any of them. Which option you choose depends on your time, abilities, and interests.
