Fields Peak and Moon Mountain

Fields Peak and Moon Mountain Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The Aldrich Mountains are a subset of the Blue Mountains west of John Day (the city) and south of the John Day River. Surrounded by the rich mixed conifers of the Malheur National Forest, the Aldrich Mountains are a peak bagger’s delight.

From the Fields Peak/McClellan Mountain Trailhead you could scramble up to the cluster of peaks near the McClellan Mountain Trail. Fields Peak is the tallest mountain between the Cascades to the west and the eastern neighbor, the Strawberry Range. Special considerations: Fields Peak Trail is popular with hunters in the fall and is open to all-terrain vehicles."
