Hidden Lake Trail #779 Professional Reviews and Guides
"Make the 2-mile hike to the rhododendron-lined shore of Hidden Lake to camp and fish, or continue another 3 miles to a junction with the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail 2000 (PCT). This trail is not particularly scenic but does have the advantage of going by a lake. The Hidden Lake Trail is often used as an access or return route for hikes along this part of the PCT.The route climbs as you leave the Hidden Lake Trailhead. In a few yards you will reach a picnic table and the wilderness registration box. Get your wilderness permit here before continuing your hike. The track makes three switchbacks, then climbs a bit more before flattening out. Look for a viewpoint to the right just before the route levels. The flat spot in the trail doesn’t last long as the trail soon climbs steeply again, making a couple more switchbacks. The grade moderates 1.1 miles from the trailhead. From here the course climbs gently through forest with a rhododendron understory, for another 0.9 mile, to the junction with the path to Hidden Lake."
