The hike was excellent until the return of our trek. We parked at the fish creek parking lot just after the bridge and returned to our car being broken into, vandalized, and our property stolen. We were only gone for 4 hours. Some of our belongings were scattered on the road further upriver about one mile. Do yourself a favor and come empty handed. I am in search of my purse, wallet, jackets and a few others. Thanks.

Wonderful trail, hiked this June 1, 2007. A wonderful forest trail and what makes this four-star, for me, is getting to Pup Creek Falls, one of many wonders one wouldn't see if one didn't hike to it. The trailhead is 90 minutes from dontown Salem, and we hiked an hour and 45 minutes from the trailhead to the falls. After the falls, the trail went into an unspectacular meadow, then through shoulder-high ferns, then back into the forest trail. Gigantic old-growth cedar tree along the river and a few pink-blooming rhodies along the trail. Encountered no one on the trail even though it was a sunny Friday.
Hiked Feb. 8, 2008, from the Indian Henry campground (south trailhead) and, 20 minutes in, a fallen tree that defied passage (it was big and surrounded, covered by snow). Trails from both Indian Henry and Fish Camp had some snow on them, but not icy.
