North Fork Rogue River: Mill Creek Falls to Lost Creek Lake Professional Review and Guide
"This short but beautiful stretch of river begins and ends with 0.3-mile hikes to the put-in and the take-out. The run is well worth the extra effort. Along the entire length are high canyon walls, waterfalls, and stands of old-growth trees. Allow a full day to do the portaging and scouting and to enjoy the numerous play spots. The put-in is just below the spectacular 173-foot Mill Creek Falls, which cascades into the middle of the Rogue. The run begins with a bang, with a gradient of 180 fpm. This translates into nonstop class 4+ action for the first 1.5 miles. Considerable scouting and possible portaging are necessary. The irregular basaltic rocks in the riverbed demand tight technical boating, and logjams are quite possible. Character: canyon."
