Banks-Vernonia State Trail

Banks-Vernonia State Trail Professional Review and Guide

"The Banks–Vernonia State Trail is popular, but not as popular as it should be. It’s simply one of the best rails-to-trails in the United States, a 21-mile ride deep into the Coast Range foothills. It climbs gently from Tualatin Valley farmland into timber country, crossing a dozen bridges en route to the logging village of Vernonia.

If it were a little closer to Portland, it would probably be mobbed. Instead, odds are good you’ll have plenty of the trail to yourself."
