The water here is always cold, but from January to March the air temperature is also cold within the deep canyon. Winter runs are, therefore, uncomfortably cold and not recommended. In May and June, the air temperature is warmer and the steep canyon rocks radiate heat, resulting in very warm or hot air, especially in the lower half of this run. The character of the run is very similar to what you see at the put-in: continuous fast-moving whitewater over rocks, a few boulders, and an occasional logjam. The river is a continuous class 3+ with a beautiful rhythm of its own. There is one class 4 rapids. At medium levels, eddies and play spots are abundant. All drops are runnable and can be scouted by eddy hopping, except for the inevitable occasional logjam. Character: forested.
