The Cove Palisades State Park: Deschutes River Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"This campground occupies a canyon near the Deschutes River Arm of Lake Billy Chinook. Native junipers, along with locusts, cottonwoods, and willows, shade the developed camp. Nature trails lead to Ship Rock and to the day-use swimming area. A longer hiking trail climbs to and then traverses the summit plateau of The Peninsula, which overlooks the camp. This landmark, shaped by the Deschutes and Crooked River Arms of Lake Billy Chinook, dishes up fine views of the lake and another area landmark, The Island. You can access the lake at the park’s day-use areas on either side of the camp. Billy Chinook is one of the state’s premier recreational waters for boating, fishing, swimming, and waterskiing."
