Long Lake

Long Lake Professional Review and Guide

"A short hike leads from the North Minam River Trail near Swamp Lake, through beautiful subalpine country, to Long Lake. At first the trail drops through small, green meadows and smooth, glacier-carved, light gray granite outcroppings.

The trail crosses a couple of streams, then drops to the bottom of a pretty little glacial cirque with a stream flowing through it. The trail is very badly eroded where it drops steeply into the cirque. There are two possible paths just before the bottom: One crosses the steam and the other doesn’t. From above, the trail can be seen in the grassy area in the bottom of the cirque. The elevation at the bottom of the cirque is 7,410 feet."
