The Lakes Basin hike is an adventure into Oregon’s Little Switzerland. The jagged granite peaks of the Wallowa Mountains, high alpine lakes, and scenic glacial valleys are just a few of the spectacular natural landmarks on this classic trail. The route begins at the Two Pan trailhead and then parallels the East Fork of the Lostine River. Passing through an alpine valley, the hike then climbs to reveal the many beautiful lakes of the Lakes Basin area. Keep in mind that this is a very popular trail. If you’re seeking solitude, come in early fall, after the summer crowds (and mosquitoes) have gone.
