Frances Lake

Frances Lake Professional Review and Guide

"A long day hike or backpack leads from the Lostine River Road at the bottom of the Lostine Canyon over one of the highest trail passes in Eagle Cap Wilderness and down to Frances Lake.

Hike south from the combined trailhead for 0.2 mile. Then the trail heads east and starts the climb immediately. It passes Eagle Cap Wilderness boundary 200 feet from the trailhead. It then switches back continually at an even, easy grade. The trail crosses a creek at 1 mile (5,690 ft.). At 5.2 miles it comes to an open area and another creek crossing (7,260 ft.) below Marble Point. There are many flowers in this open area."
