Great trail for family with mobile kids. Culminates with a walk across a cool bridge next to a waterfall. Awesome views. You can hike to the bottom of the waterfall and, if adventurous, you can climb over the rocks and downed tree logs to get to the base of the fall.

Nice Spring day. Very easy trail about 1.5 miles in to the falls. Relatively flat. Suspension bridge was impressive. Highly recommend. Visit oregonhike.wordpress.com for more info and pics

Very good trail to an impressive suspension bridge that gives a great view of the falls. There is a new trail not in the guide book, the North Loop. It's not much longer than the main trail--Ranger said it's about the same but I'm not sure I agree--and at the far end takes you through a very beautiful section of mature forest--almost old growth. Ranger suggested its easier to take it going in as it has a steeper grade. I took it coming back. It was also much quieter as the main trail was quite busy with lots of loud kids and families. The road in--at least from the 101 side (and probably from 18) is a paved, one-lane road often wide-enough for two cars to pass carefully with wider turnouts frequently. However, the road in is closed from Monday through Thursday until Oct. 31, 2006, for roadwork. As I did not come in from 18, I can't say for sure about the closure coming that way. It is also very curvy so those prone to car sickness may want to take it very slowly. My Falcon Guide--Hiking the Oregon Coast, copyright 2003, which I just bought--has some discrepences. The elevation change according to the National Forest website is about 400 feet; and the map in my Falcon guide is not accurate; e.g. the Suspension Bridge is virtually over the falls not way downstream.
