Dog Lake, the area’s central draw, is an attractive artificial lake. It claims a pretty forested basin and displays areas of rush, cattail, and pond lily along its shallows. White pelicans, ducks, geese, killdeer, and yellow-headed and red-winged blackbirds favor this lake, as do campers, boaters (maximum speed 5 miles per hour), and anglers. Because of its popularity with recreationists, the campground has grown. Numbered sites occur in clusters accessed by dirt roads heading left off FR 4017. Bass, perch, and trout are the lake catches.
