"A long day hike to 7,800-foot Maiden Peak, which offers fines views of the central Cascades. The actual summit is marked by a pile of rocks, probably the remains of the old lookout cabin. Pieces of cast iron stove and melted glass are scattered around. The lookout person had a superb view in all directions. Mount Thielsen is visible to the south. Southwest lie Odell and Crescent lakes, and above Odell Lake are Lakeview and Diamond Peaks. To the west some of the ski runs at Willamette Pass Ski Area are visible. The small lake to the left and below the ski runs is Rosary Lake. To the northwest is Mount Ray and Waldo Lake. Visible far to the north are the Three Sisters and Mount Jefferson."
