Deschutes River: Wickiup Dam to Pringle Falls Professional Review and Guide
"This is one of the authors’ favorite class 1 runs in Oregon. Many features combine to create a stimulating and often exhilarating experience: high mountain air, clear blue water, ponderosa pines, abundant camping sites, and great fishing are but a few. Perhaps the strongest asset of this region is the dense population of osprey. The sound of an osprey calling and the sight of a vertical dive to pull a 12-inch trout from the water near your canoe are experiences not soon forgotten. The majority of boaters on this stretch take out at Wyeth Campground on river left. There are signs warning of upcoming Pringle Falls, class 4, which lies just below here. Only expert kayakers should consider this drop, and only after scouting. It is definitely not a rapids for open canoes. Character: forested; osprey sanctuary."
