Point Prominence Professional Review and Guide
"It's a moderately difficult out-and-back. The length of the ride and the road conditions (rough at times) make it best suited to intermediate and advanced riders. Strong, energetic beginners can attempt the route and turn around if they find it too demanding. There are some areas where the tread is composed of large, loose gravel. This makes the return descent a little sketchy. After climbing for four miles, FS 6220 gains a ridge to traverse over rolling terrain. A short spur road, FS 800, branches off of FS 6220 and leads out to Point Prominence Lookout. This road is composed of fist-sized rocks that make travel by bicycle extremely difficult. You might park your bike and hike to the lookout. The trailhead is approximately 23 miles of La Grande."
