The trip is demanding, and there are limited views of the Grande Ronde Valley and the Eagle Cap Wilderness from Forest Service Road 6220. Strong intermediate cyclists and expert riders will appreciate this ride. It consists of a 9.4 mile loop and an 11.6 mile out-and-back spur. Dirt and gravel roads are in good condition. It does pass through some boggy spots and includes a couple of steep rocky stretches where you should walk or carry your bike. A highlight was a rapid, but bumpy, descent on FS 6220 back to the trailhead. Hold on tight! The trailhead is located approximately 23 miles east of La Grande.
