Hilgard Junction State Park Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"This campground occupies a narrow strip between I–84 and the Grande Ronde River. It is a pretty spot but can be noisy when large trucks tackle the interstate grade. Usually, though, the river wins out. Cottonwoods shade the dandelion-sprinkled lawn, and a forested slope rises across from camp. This is an Oregon Trail site, and to its northwest off I–84 is Blue Mountain Crossing, a forest service interpretive site and trail, where historic wagon ruts can be seen. Fishing and rafting are popular river activities."
