Seven Lakes Basin-West

Seven Lakes Basin-West Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"A popular trail into a magnificent basin, visiting three of the Seven Lakes. This may be Southern Oregon’s most scenic hike, especially when combined with the Devil’s Peak Trail. Few lakes in this guide, or anywhere, can match the stunning beauty of Cliff Lake and the Seven Lakes Basin. Although the trail can be a challenge, the rewards are many.

The Seven Lakes Trail may contain impassable snow well into July. Also, the mosquito density can be astonishing in the basin in June and July. The situation gets better in August and much better in September. There is adequate water along most routes but also much horse traffic. Camping within 100 feet of all lakes is prohibited, and equestrians must use designated horse camps. Group size is limited to 12 people unless the group is passing through on a longer trip on the Pacific Crest Trail."
