While other routes showcase the upper portions of the rugged Wallowa Mountains, this route puts you into the belly of the wilderness. You’ll be wandering up a tight canyon with views up, up, and away toward the flanks of dramatic Wallowa Mountain splendor. On this route you may spot some of the elusive mountain goats that live in the area surrounded by the Eagle Cap Wilderness. Some of the tallest and most stunning peaks in the Wallowas rise out of the bottom of this canyon, and the effect can be inspiring (if weather permits any decent views).
