Bonneville Mountain West Side

Bonneville Mountain (West Side) Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"A fairly long, steep climb leads from West Fork Wallowa River Trail to the summit of Bonneville Mountain. Note that dogs are allowed on this trail, but they will have a very difficult time climbing the nearly vertical terrain near the summit.

Turn off West Fork Wallowa River Trail and climb the gentle open slope to the east (left) to a point where two gullies can be seen ahead. The two gullies run nearly parallel. Climb up the left gully all the way, nearly 3,000 vertical feet, to the large boulder just below the notch. Some rockfall is possible in the gully, so watch and listen for it."
