Willamette River: Jasper County Park to Alton Baker Park Professional Review and Guide
"Jasper County Park to Alton Baker Park is a popular summer run for Eugene residents and is the site of the annual Willamette River Race. Although racing boats try to finish this stretch in less than 1.5 hours, the run is more often enjoyed at a leisurely float pace.
Do not expect a wilderness run here; rather, enjoy a gathering of happy folks, especially during the summer when hot weather drives rafts, canoes, and crafts of all pedigrees onto the water. Despite its popularity with novice paddlers, the river merits respect. During summer, the water is mild but rocks are plentiful. During spring, winter, and fall, the water can be brutally cold. Character: residential; industrial."
