"A steep hike up a spectacular flat-topped mesa with rare plant species and an impressive view. The cliffs aren’t as high as those at Lower Table Rock, but the surface is larger and there’s much more trail on top. Upper Table Rock is a fascinating afternoon diversion for those who have conquered Lower Table Rock but have not had their fill of flat-top rocks. The trail is shorter and less steep than its lower counterpart and a little more open, with better views. The low elevations are not quite as hot in midsummer." Read more

Just a few minutes out of Medford or Grants Pass, the Table Rock hikes are the best that the Southern Oregon metro area has to offer, and Upper Table Rock is the hike of choice for most. Despite having 120 feet less of altitude gain, it still ends up at a higher point than the summit of Lower Table (hence the name) and offers peerless views, with a less strenuous hike. Don't be fooled; this is a tough hike and a great exercise program, gaining 700+ feet of altitude in just over a mile, and there are plenty of good views along the way. The summit table portion of the trail is surprisingly rough and poorly maintained, and the trail is always very busy with local hikers, but still recommended if you're in the area.
