West Fork Hood River: Lake Branch Fork to East Fork Hood River Professional Review and Guide
"The West Fork of Hood River is one of the best intermediate runs in Oregon. Beautiful basalt gorges, nearly continuous rapids, and an isolated canyon make this a run a classic. The run is a solid class 4 at normal flows, but as flows increase above 3000 cfs, the pools below rapids become small or nonexistent and some of the rapids deserve class 5 attention. The first 2 miles of the run contain many fun class 3 to 3+ rapids and two scenic basalt gorges. About 2 miles downriver from the put-in is a riverwide fish ladder where once there was a beautiful 13-foot waterfall. Portage on the left. Character: forested."
