Viento State Park Professional Review and Guide
"Just off the interstate, this tidy campground among the maples and oaks is convenient for both through-travelers and visitors to the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. The separate tent area occupies natural woodland. Possible excursions include visits to Bonneville Dam, Cascade Locks, and the Washington shore; waterfall viewing along the Old Scenic Highway; and windsurfing at Koberg Beach in Hood River. For hiking head to Starvation Creek State Park (2 miles west), where trails climb to Mount Defiance and the heights of the gorge. Trails also begin off the Old Scenic Highway."
