South Fork Smith River: Upper Bridge to South Fork Gorge Professional Review and Guide
"Most of the drops on this run are gradual and straightforward, with the exception of the sharp drop visible from the road several miles up from the gorge (past the point where the road climbs away from the river and then returns). The sharp drop mentioned above develops a nasty hole at some water levels; it can usually be avoided by running river left. To reach the put-in, proceed upstream, crossing the river twice on bridges high above the river. The put-in is at a bridge about 10 miles upstream. The river is generally visible from the road. It is possible to shorten the run by putting in farther down.Character: forested; canyon."
