Norway Basin

Norway Basin Professional Review and Guide

"An alternate route for a section of East Pine Creek/Blue Creek Trail, this trail is generally more scenic than East Pine Creek Trail but is somewhat steeper and rougher. It follows old mine roads part of the way. Most of the country along this trail has burned at least once since 2000 and the flowers are wonderful.

The trail flattens out some 0.5 mile after leaving East Pine Creek Trail. After climbing at a gentler grade for 275 yards, it crosses one of the forks of Simmons Creek. This crossing (6,000 ft.) is just above a fork in the creek. After crossing the creek the trail steepens again and heads up a ridgeline to the northwest. The forest opens up along this ridge, which makes it a good area to see elk."
