This ride is well suited to beginning mountain bikers. There is a moderately steep one-quarter-mile climb near the end of the circuit where novices may have to push their bikes. The trail is well maintained, but it does contain minor technical challenges. This interpretive trail passes through open woodlands and meadows, then into a fern-filled old-growth forest. Like oak, madrone, and maples grow as understory trees below stately firs and cedars. The trailhead is about 20 miles northwest of Grants Pass.
