Along the North Fork John Day Wild and Scenic River at the intersection of the Elkhorn and Blue Mountain Scenic Byways is this pleasant, sunny campground in the lodgepole pines. The North Fork John Day National Recreation Trail leaves one end of the camp and follows the river into the North Fork John Day Wilderness. The trail travels past mounds of tailings, active claims, and decaying cabins, all part of the mining era here. Special fishing regulations protect the anadromous fishery.
