Boulder Lake Professional Review and Guide
"There are two approach trails to Boulder Lake, a scenic pool set beneath a line of impressive cliffs and talus slopes in a small roadless area southeast of Mt. Hood. Most hikers start from Bonney Meadows and descend from this wildflower haven to the shores of the lake. The downside to this plan is that the approach road is awful and the hike, while scenic, requires plenty of uphill on the return trip. What relatively few people realize is that there is another option that is very short, never crowded, suitable for backpackers of any age, and that has a good gravel access road. The recommended itinerary, therefore, is to take the shorter trail, saving wear and tear on both your car and your knees, then set up camp at Boulder Lake and make the trip to Bonney Meadows as a scenic dayhike."
