Mount Baldy / Ridgeline Trail Professional Review and Guide
"This short, relatively easy path is considered a highlight of Eugene’s 6.3-mile Ridgeline Trail system (except for the side trails up Spencer Butte). While rather steep, it only takes fifteen or twenty minutes to reach the top, and the payoff is outstanding. The summit (elevation 1,232 feet) is level and grassy, with terrific views north and south.
Immediately south of Eugene, there lies a hilly east-west ridge (called the “South Hills”) culminating in Spencer Butte. The 6.3-mile Ridgeline Trail visits much of this ridge, and is accessed by numerous trailheads (Spring Boulevard, Dillard North, Dillard West, Fox Hollow, Willamette Street, and Blanton). Spencer Butte can be accessed either from the Ridgeline system or from its own trailhead. The second-highest peak in this ridge, after Spencer Butte, is Mount Baldy, named for its dome-shaped, grassy summit."
