This ride is a beautiful ride through the valleys, forests, and hills of southern Oregon. Ride it during the region's mild spring and fall weather, when bicyclists can peel down to shorts and a light jersey and won't suffer from the midsummer heat. Terrain: rolling hills with some flat and one 600-foot climb on Meadow Road. The ride starts in Gold Hill, a small community on the Rogue River between the cities of Medford and Grants Pass. Following the Sams Valley Highway past orchards and small farms along the Rogue River, the route continues north through a vast open meadow covered with farms and cattle ranches, then past the Upper and Lower Table Rocks on the appropriately named Meadow Road. Along this road you climb steadily into the higher oak and pine forests, and from a summit you’ll enjoy spectacular views back into the Rogue River Valley.
