Rogue River: Above Nugget Falls to Gold Hill Boat Ramp Professional Review and Guide
"This short run on the Rogue is gaining popularity because it provides enough good play spots and challenging rapids for an afternoon of boating. The put-in is in a short flat stretch, from which it is possible to paddle upstream to a rapids with some small play waves for warm-up. The first play spot downstream is at a broken weir, which has a hole in the right center. An excellent ender hole is located on the downstream edge of the broken weir, but use caution at lower flows since some boats have been folded here. Nugget Falls immediately follows. This is a class 3+ or 4 drop, which can be run down the middle of the left channel. It is a good idea to scout the falls the first time down. Pull off on the left bank under the trees and take the trail to the rock bar. This is an easy scout, and the trail can also be used to rerun. A big surfing wave follows the drop. Character: forested; residential."
